Installation inside raspbian on RPi2

  • Forgive me, I know there are prebuilt images for the RPi but I have everything setup perfectly inside raspbian after hours of effort.

    What is the #1 reason why it's not recommended to use inside raspbian?

    When I update the system will packages become broken?

    I have found a few links online were people have done this, just wanted to make sure I'm headed in the right direction here - help a brother out:

    I don't recommend against installing on Raspbian. It is just easier to use my images. The images use Raspbian themselves. I just didn't want to explain all the steps when an image is provided.

    Most systems won't have a problem. Depends on what packages you are using.

    omv 7.1.0-2 sandworm | 64 bit | 6.8 proxmox kernel

    plugins :: omvextrasorg 7.0 | kvm 7.0.13 | compose 7.2 | k8s 7.1.0-3 | cputemp 7.0.1 | mergerfs 7.0.5 | scripts 7.0.2

    omv-extras.org plugins source code and issue tracker - github - changelogs

  • I get you, and would have totally used the brilliant image you provide if I was starting fresh.

    Can I assume that that's the go ahead to use these tutorials without issues? Any recommendations?

    i.e. If I have a webserver running already - will it conflict? If I use Raspbian will it conflict with my current mounts? If I already use a FTP server or have samba mounts will it conflict?

    Tutorials may work. Didn't really have time to look at them.

    Conflicts:

    webserver - most likely will cause issues
    mounts - maybe but you can't use them in the OMV interface
    ftp - if you enable it in the web interface
    samba - if you enable it in the web interface

    You really recommend going all or nothing with OMV.
