Thank you bro for this information. Because of that I am able to install the OMV-Extra Plugins, of which I was trying to install for ages.

Hello,
I am now setting a backup server and would then setup an incremental backup by schedule. The only thing that holds my progress is how to set up an SMB share Rsync.
I am able to do it Locally, Rsync from one drive to another within a server. What I have not tried is retrieving files from another server that is connected within the local network.
I was wondering what information should I need to input inside this Rsync task.
My source server:
IP Address - 10.0.10.1
user - sysadm
password - 12345qwerty!
SMB Share - //10.0.10.1/share1/docs
I do hope someone would give me an idea, at least how to set it up at first. The moment I have the template I’d be on my way
How are you initiating the rsync? The plugin, wetty, terminal/ssh, scheduled jobs, etc?
I use Rsync through scheduling via OMV UI. I don't use the terminal to do it. I found a way to monitor if it's still working, it may not be much but atleast it shows Rsync is copying something.
If there are no notifications, it means that the process has already finished.
I'd like to believe it is but it does not. Its a 300GB Rsync, and I have refreshed the browser the moment the Rsync Started. However I could wait it out and check the cpu utilization. I just can't have a progress monitor anymore to tell if its done or not.
Up in the notifications area of the browser (top right "Bell") you can select a notification of a running process, and "attach" to it to see the status window again.
Hello,
Is there a way to recheck if my Rsync job is done or not? There is this progress window when I run it inside OMV interface inside a browser, however once I closed the browser or even do a refresh the window will disappear. Is there a way to check again? Like via SSH or from the browser. I can't see it on the notification, the only way I can tell is to check the system resources dashboard, but who knows whats going on other than rsync.
Hello,
Is it safe or recommended to spin down drives that are not in use? Does it benefit the life of the drive and save electricity at the same time if the drive will spin down to a complete stop?
I am curious to know about this feature if it can benefit the system. In that cafe what could be the best settings you can recommend.
Hello,
I have been using Rsync to transfer files from Hardisk to Hardisk inside the server. While it's more efficient and reliable compared to SAMBA shares via network, the only thing I am trying for figure out is how to view ongoing tasks.
At first there will be a process window on the OMV UI in the browser. The moment the page was refreshed or interrupted I can no longer see the task. Although checking on the dashboard about resources used may show its working on it, I can't tell what files is being processed or at what percentage Rsync is at.
I've used NGROK to expose localhost in the past, but I have not realized it on OMV. I Guess I need to research on how to use docker.
Hello,
I have been busy lately with my OMV installation. I need a solution to make a specific share available online. The issue I have is my network is behind a CGNAT, and I can't open up a port to expose my shares online.
Thanks for the help.
I am wondering if this would have the same effect as what I am after. Scheduling is disabled but the play button can be pressed anytime.
Alles anzeigen* is equivalent to any value
0 is the value 0
* in minute means every minute
0 in minutes is minute 0
If you just want to run the task manually, don't activate the task, just configure it.
I am not sure what to do with scheduling. should I just put it on Zero to prevent it from running every value? or should I just delete the schedule to just do it manually.
Hello,
I am trying to figure out what "*" mean for scheduling.
I am trying to set a task, but to only execute it manually by selecting the Play Button. What's the difference if I set it to "0" vs "*"
I have a screenshot attached to this post.
Thanks for your help.
Thanks for your suggestion. I am still new, and I haven't fully grasp how docker works on OMV or docker in general. I may do research first.
Thanks for your fast response. I am aware of it, however I may need a better or detailed information of each drives. Telling HDD health would be safer to have since it will tell you if the drive is about to go critical. The status that says "Good" or "Bad" may help a little, but for drive health you can predict or at least be prepared before it turns bad.
Edit: I think I got it now, thanks
Hi,
I'd like to know if this is a plugin to display or monitor the S.M.A.R.T for out drives in detail? Like information for Health and remaining days usage? I'd like to have it natively on OMV so I don't need to boot a Linux to do so.
Hello OMV Community,
I have a question. I have been using OMV with multiple RAID1 setup.
Me question is, is it safe to re arrange or swap SATA Headers connection? I am going to re organize my drives, but is it safe to do so? or should I label each SATA connector to prevent mixing up?
I do have a PCIe expansion SATA Cards for other drives. Would it matter if those drive plugged on to the expansion be reconnected on the motherboard SATA headers?
Thanks for the answers.
