Yes I would have liked to build it with an RPi the raid because of the small power consumption. But as I understand the OMV does not support Raid with disks connected to the usb?
Then what is a good alternative to build a Raid with OMV ?

    Just a PC ?

    regards…

Ok, I didn't write my whole setup, since I didn't think it would make a difference.

I will have two backups. One locally in my own LAN, most likely inside the same NAS but on different HDDs, but i might decide to buy some dedicated NAS just for the…

I have a NAS with 2 disks in Raid1 full of data.
Has anyone managed to migrate a Linux Raid1 to a Raid5 setup by adding 1 disk, while the data on the 2 original disks is retained? Theoretical this should be no problem but the internet is somewhat

Please, post the outputs inside CODE boxes (symbol </> of the posting box)
You are connected via SSH so, just copy/paste the output.

    Post the output of:
    cat /etc/apt/sources.list

Thanks for the command, this is the output

I've also tried the alternate installation method with Debian 12 at this page:
    https://wiki.omv-extras.org/do…=omv7:i386_32-bit_install

In that case, the freeze happens the moment I choose the "install" option.…

That I can't. I can't install past OMV 5.5.11. Anything above that, it freezes right after I choose the install option. A black box appears and it doesn't proceed further. So that applies to the last released OMV 5.6 version as well as OMV 6 and OMV…

BTRFS on a laptop could be a good choice depending on the distro you use. Tools like snapper, timeshift give you snapshot management, while btrbk can be used for incremental snapshot backups to another device. The are plenty of web articles/posts…

Thanks for your answer and sorry for hijacking this thread. I was just curious. I have no plans on setting up a RAID on my server but I have been playing with the thought of using btrfs on my laptop..
