Closing Apply Configuration Changes Confirmation Dialog

  • If I make a change to configuration and then click on the green "Apply Configuration Changes" dialog, OpenMediaVault presents a Confirmation dialog asking "Do you really want to apply the configuration?". I would expect that clicking the "X" button on the top right corner of the dialog to dispose of the window would implicitly select "No". However, clicking the "X" actually Applies changes. Is this the intended behavior?

Also, since the Apply Configuration Changes is global, and you can move from window to window before applying, it is possible to forget what you changed. Is there a way to discard all pending changes without applying them?

  • I don't think your second question makes sense. You couldn't do that before, so I don't think Volker will implement an undo button.

For the first, that seems like a bug.

  • Hi David,

For the second - I see your point, since you have already committed the change via Save. Maybe this is just a confusion about the name "Apply Configuration Changes", which might be clearer if it were "Activate Configuration Changes" or something implying that we are restarting services to take advantage of what we changed. Usually, "Apply Changes" is used along with an antonym like "Cancel" or "Discard Changes", so maybe it's just the name that's a little confusing.

It is not possible to undo the config changes.
The close button issue will be fixed in the next version.

How ab out a diff to the last Version? We have already a .BAK of the config. That would only allow the last changes, but better than nothing.

Why is it not possible to undo the config?
I currently have a state where I can not apply the config as an error occurs. I'd like to just discard the config changes rather than dealing with the error, because I do not want it to get applied anymore.

btw: I made changes to the quota of one drive ... so no big thing.

  • Aaron reverting was (if I remember correctly) introduced after the 0.5 feature freeze.
