Hey,
Not sure if this is normal or not, I'm running Linux Elementary OS and when I select entire network so I can navigate to my shared folders I can actually select one called
server - SSH
Is this normal? It does ask for a username and password.

If you look at where you enable SSH in your OMV web-gui you will see DNS Service Discovery enable. I believe the operating system you are using is in error and should not be displaying the SSH's discovery service the way it is in that picture. The OS should know that that SSH is not a shared folder. Many other operating systems are not doing this with the SSH discovery service. I just look at your pic again. It just appears to be displaying the services on the network so it seems ok.
Thanks.
Just looked at the SSH section on the webgui and the option for
ZitatDNS Service Discovery enable
isn't present.
I will talk to people in the Elemental OS community.
Well, that looks like it is displayed at Dennis' screencasts made with ubuntu. So it looks fine for me, but I have never seen it myself, alltough I'm not using a Linux Desktop all the time...
Greetings
David
I use Windows 7 as a primary desktop. So maybe I'm not best to ask. I only use linux for servers. I am surprised that it would show this if the discovery service is not enabled. But this may be standard for a linux desktop to show.
Hey - it's a feature, not a bug. Very comfortable! Click on it and you'll be asked for credentials. So it's no problem at all and I like it. Take a look: http://kielhorn.eu/OMV/OMV_03/OMV_03.html @ 4:20...
I'll boot inro Wibdows tonight and see if ir shows this folder. ive disabled SSH for now.
The service discovery protocols has in 05.x.x moved to the network menu under the service discovery tab. There you can enable/disable the different service discovery protocols. Among these the ssh service discovery protocol.
Zitat von "Britman"I'll boot inro Wibdows tonight and see if ir shows this folder. ive disabled SSH for now.
Out of the box Win isn't capable, to browse SSH-Shares. But there is software available, for example: http://www.sshexplorer.com/ or http://youtu.be/EEZNgqA31Wo
No reason to deactivate SSH - GET A STRONG PASSWORD!
Thank you Dennis. I will look into tonight.
