softdog error

cannot register miscdev on minor=130 (err=-16)

Just noticed the above error In the boot logs, not sure how long it was happening or where it has come from.

Should I just ignore it as system seems ok?

Thanks tekkbebe, I had seen that topic and checked blacklist.conf, there is an entry to blacklist the iTCO_wdt module. Should I blacklist softdog? what is OMV's default watchdog?

I did a clean install on a spare HD and it shows up on the first boot after the setup is complete. Could it be some hardware that I have that is causing this?, a compatibility issue with my motherboard? or a BIOS setting?

Not yet, did not want to add or change anything from the default install. If you think it may help I will try it later tonight when I get back from work.

Installed backports 3.14 and the message does not appear in the boot logs but does still happen

It was most likely there from the start, I just never noticed it before. I do have a soundcard and a video capture card. I never use sound so I could remove that(don't know if it is working) The video capture card is fully functioning and is being used.

I did add mei to the blacklist. I don't think it is installed because I could not load it.
