Try this:

signature=$(gpg --verify linux-4.5.tar.sign |grep -i "good signature")
# if signature is empty then it didn't find the "good signature" string meaning it was not a good signature
if [ "$signature" = "" ]; then
 exit 1
fi

What failed? I can't tell from your output. It looks like there is a good signature and is working to me.

I know, but the script still exit after it verified the signature though.
It wouldn't continue the rest of the script.
