So I have been enjoying my OMV. I use it all the time it is an old emachines P4 with 80GB os drive and an 1TB storage drive. I have been getting transfer rates of 10-11 mbps. So I thought hey I am not really using my Gigabit lan with the old 10/100 eth card.
So I bought an cheapo Gigabit PCI card it is a RTL8169 Rev. 10
I disabled the on board in bios and booted. I figured OMV would just see the new network card and start using it but not so much.
I am an adequate Linux user and I can look up stuff on the internet and generally understand how linux is put together.
I am out of my depth here, I have the OMV box hooked up to a head and keyboard and am logged in to the Root the Card is listed when I do
lspci
and if i go back into bios and enable the on board it lists them both.
I have tried some other commands to no avail
How do i get OMV to use the new card?

Log in to your OMV server's terminal and execute omv-firstaid. Choose "Configure network interface", and from there, it should be fairly easy to set it up.

I knew it had to be something easy any suggestions on settings for the new card default settings get me 27Mbps
Played with the MTU 9216, 5120, 1500,
really saw no difference

Additional device settings, e.g. 'autoneg off speed 100 duplex full'. See manual pages for more details.
Any tweaks to put in there -

RTL muss non-free -
Wolf2000,
I am not sure I understand your post, is that to tell if the card is supported?
