OMV 4 - plug-in list

Hi,

I'm preparing a new install of OMV on a new linux board (rock64). I know OMV 4 is not quite ready but I wanted to see how it goes rather than starting with OMV 3 and upgrading in a couple of months.

The plug-ins I use on my standard setup are:

flashmemory
openvpn
transmission

Are these available in OMV 4?

You can even now start with OMV 3 and upgrade to OMV 4 if you know what you're doing and are aware that there are still some glitches. But omv-release-upgrade on the ROCK64 OMV image works just fine.

If you start with an ayufan ROCK64 Stretch image please use the included /usr/local/sbin/install_openmediavault.sh script since this takes care of all the needed performance optimizations for ARM boards!

Thanks @tkaiser - very helpful.

There are a couple of plug-ins (openVPN and transmission) that are not ready or might not be ported to OMV 4.

I think a suggestion is to use Docker containers to enable these tools/services but I have no idea how to use Docker and i don't think rock64 and docker is a good idea - although I understand docker is working on rock64.

So I think best place to start is with OMV 3 which is great and works well.

I'd like to migrate to OMV 4 but it might be tricky without the necessary plug-ins.

Can i use the docker plug-in on OMV4 on rock64?

I heard of the opposite, some of the Hypriot guys run really large RPi 3 docker installations (and that's toy grade compared to ROCK64 both wrt IO and networking) but I never tried it and also don't know about OMV integration (no idea whether the plugin works or not).

OK. I will try to get docker working on my rock64 with OMV 4.

Not sure if I can use the OMV docker plugin with this config but there is a thread on rock64 forum explaining how to enable docker so that should be enough to get me started.

I need a nice and easy way to manage/configure the docker containers but I will see what I can find.

Should be a good way for me to get a better understanding of docker which seems like a really clever / nice approach.

On my rpi3 running OMV 4.x, docker-ce and the plugin work. I will just need to change the plugin to not be arch specific in the control file and put it in the other repos.
