OMV / NAS Startup & boot without entering Logindata

  • Good Morning,

I have a Fujitsu Home Server using as my NAS with 4 internal HDD´s. On that PC I have no graphical output, but can add it by opening the housing and adding a PCI x1 card...

But What I want is to start my NAS if required and don't want to type in my Login data by opening the hole case every time....

Hope my Situation is clear and anyone can help me :)

    Intel® Celeron® 420 Prozessor (1.6 GHz, 512 KB, L2 Cache)
    2GB DDr2 RAM
    OMV 3.0.94
    2x 3TB Seagate
    1x 2TB Hitachi
    1x 250GB Samsung (Main System OMV )

  • if your problem is that OMV do not boot if no VGA is detected, add one VGA ( cheapest posible) and done.

I start my OMV without any monitor attached to my NAS and boot fine, no need to log in to start anything, see my signature.

Your problem appear to be a hardware problem not a OMV problem.

  • Do you know the service „ssh“?

With ssh it’s possible to log into your nas from another computer/tablet in your local network. In most cases there is no need for physical access to the nas.

    Greetings Hoppel

  • Thanks both for your quick reply.

Yes I know Ssh and using it since I have OMV.... shame on me .. I thought the NAS needs first to be logged in to work with SSH on another computer...

Now everything is working and Topic can be closed :)

  • One last question on this

Is it possible to install a fresh OMV 4.x from USB drive (connected to NAS of course) and go trough install procedure from another computer using ssh?
