I would also check to see if there is a BIOS update available for the motherboardboard, just in case there was an incompatibility issue that a BIOS update addressed.

This one?
Check the OMV GUI system, power management, settings and play with it.
This is without experince since I only use SBCs
OR
Check the BIOS settings to see if something needs changing.
I will check the options in the BIOS but so far I've found nothing

I'm on v1.8 which is the last stable version, I could go to the beta v1.9 but I am not sure if it will have any impact. https://www.asrock.com/mb/intel/z77%20extreme4-m/#BIOS

Hi again everyone,
So I finally had enough time to take another stab at this and after updating the BIOS motherboard BIOS it seems it is now working correctly. However a bunch of other issues appeared with the BIOS configuration that I will have to check with the manufacturer.
User KM0201 walked me through a new installation using Debian netInstall and all is good for now.
Thank you all for your input.

I had to leave before you got it finished but glad to hear it's working now.
