borg upgrade not found

    How can I upgrade Borg to the latest version?

    OMV is on borg v1.1.6 which does not support "compact", which means Repos are not reduced in size once an Archive has been removed. This is a major issue.

    I realised that compact was only introduced in v 1.2.4

    "apt-get upgrade && install borg" does not find the package

    Any ideas how I can upgrade Borg?

    (I am on OMV 6.3.4-1)

    I think I found the issue: borg v 1.2 is considered not stable and currently in status 'testing' although the Debian manpages already show documentation for the latest (unstable) version. (a bit misleading if you ask me)

    1.1.16 is in the regular debian repo. 1.2.3 is in backports repo. If backports are enabled, 1.2 should be installed because omv-extras pins the backports version - https://github.com/OpenMediaVa…s_d-omvextras_pref.j2#L33


    As for 1.2 being stable, I have been running it for a long time and had no issues.

    Ah thanks for sharing. I will try that. Is there a downside to activating back ports? (I am not familiar with the concept).

    It is enabled by default. You must have disabled it at some point if it is disabled.

    When I try to switch backports on and confirm the change in OMV, I constantly get error 504 - timeout in th ebrowser.

    Any ideas?

    Slow system and/or slow os drive. It will still finish and work correctly.

    Unfortunately I does not finish the task. When I log in the back port tick is gone. Is there a way to trigger the OMV commands from cli?
