Do you have more than one debian install on the system? It is usually pretty good. You could always look at dpkg -l | grep openme to see if it is current.

I had problems a while ago wen upgrading to OMV6 - my permissions were all over the place and got OMV6 working fine and the permissions sorted. So in answer to ur question Im not sure if I have more than one - I sudnt have

It won't hurt to reinstall grub but you shouldn't have to now. I would reboot and boot off hard disk.

It created a file that should run fsck if it would boot. Since it won't boot, you should write systemrescue iso to another usb stick and boot from it. You can run fsck from that.
