FTP Server exposes complete filesystem instead of the listed share

  • OMV 6.6.0-1 (Shaitan), ProFTP server
FTP Server enabled with default settings, one shared folder.

    One self-signed SSL cert enabled.

one local user (ken) in groups( sambashare, ssh, sudo, users)

When signing in to server from Windows box with Filezilla as user ken :
ftp://192.168.XXX.XXX , port 21 -- Empty Directory list - no navigation - no ability to write file

    When signing in with sftp:

sftp://192.168.xxx.xxx, port 22 - Complete filesystem of server is exposed, Read/Write

How do I set this up for the server to only show the shared folder??

  • You need to make a user and set the permissions on the shared folders you require. Than you would just login via the user you made.

Edit you would need to set the correct permissions on the shared folders for user "ken" than login via ken

sftp is served by ssh not proftpd. ftps is served by proftpd. sftp is not the same as ftps.

Shared folder permission setting to Read/Write for user ken. No change - not showing my shared folder.

The initial folder on ftp login is /srv/ftp, I can read a file there but that is all.

Are there any log files or screenshots that will help troubleshoot?
