Hi!
I am completely new to this whole scene.
This is my hardware:
- Raspberry Pi 4 (8gb version)
- Micro SD Card 64gb class 10
- 1TB external ssd
What i want:
- OMV (currently installed) for my first NAS to store private documents, pictures and videos
- Docker installed through OMV, to install containers like Home Assistant and such stuff
First Problem:
Currently i am struggling to install Docker inside of OMV, every guide i found tells me to use a omv-extras menu, which i am not able to get.
Second Problem:
I heard its not really smart to run docker on my ssd, because its current format is ntfs. But i also heard i won't be able to run docker containers through my micro sd card (currently the OMV OS) because OMV locks it away from usage? Is that true?
Would it make sense then to format my ssd into ext4 (which i even never heard of, because i am completely new regarding linux) and store both my nas files and docker containers there?
I would be very thankful for any advices. I also thought about installing Pimox, then creating a vm for OMV and another one for docker. Would this be better? I literally spent half of the day trying to install docker through OMV without success...
Thanks in Advance!
