USB Backup Progress Bar

  • When running the USB Backup (plug-in) service, a copy speed reading and a progress bar of some sort would be nice to have, so as to be able to approximately determine completion of the job. And when to return to disconnect the external USB drive.

The rsync job log is helpful as it is, telling what is/has been copied and when a job has been completed. Indirectly it is possible to the determine copy speed by displaying the read speed of the source provided nothing else is reading it. But in practice this is not enough.

OMV can only display what the rsync command line tool provides. Maybe it is possible to tweak the rsync behaviour to your needs by using the Extra Options field in the OMV UI.

In OMV7 the rsync --info parameter will be useful IMO. For OMV6 you need to check the rsync manual pages.

  • Thanks for the hint. 8)

Now using as USB Backup extra options: --progress --verbose and since the puter
is fairly slow also --compress-level=0 :)

Not the same as a progress bar, but nevertheless.

It is better. most Windows progress bars are worthless.
