errors installing extras plugins

  • Today I downloaded the latest OMV iso, and installed in my new amd64 server. The install went fine, and I followed instructions to install the OMV-extras "repository", using the CLI command:

    wget -O - https://github.com/OpenMediaVa…ckages/raw/master/install | bash

    while logged in as root. There were these errors, and upon going back to the web giu, there are no OMV-Extras plugins showing, even after ctl+shift+R, and rebooting... as stated this is a totally fresh install of the image downloaded today (Sunday).<br>

    IS there anything I have missed ?

    Did you change something with root's path?

    What is the output of (as root):

    echo $PATH

    dpkg -l | grep openme

    omv 7.1.0-2 sandworm | 64 bit | 6.8 proxmox kernel

    plugins :: omvextrasorg 7.0 | kvm 7.0.13 | compose 7.2 | k8s 7.1.0-3 | cputemp 7.0.1 | mergerfs 7.0.5 | scripts 7.0.7

    I did not change anything, I just ssh'd to the server using the admin user, logged in as root using the root password specified during the ISO install, and executed the command shown above to install the extras "repository", nothing more, nothing else. This is a brand new install in virgin hardware. I have not even created a file system yet. Only installed the ISO.

    The output shown is the output in the ssh terminal from running the wget command above as root.

    I have tried ctl-shift-R, I have tried reboot, nothing seems to help, I do not get the "extra" plugins in the plugin list.

    It would seem to me that perhaps the OMV/Debian ISO from which I installed is has an incomplete root PATH ? MAybe I need to re-download the ISO image and start over ?

  • ....here is the complete terminal output for running the command as root. This is the second time I tried to run it, thinking perhaps the first time had not worked. As can be seen, most if not all of the downloaded files were already there (from the first time I ran it), but the errors highlighted above remain, and am wondering if this is the reason the extra plugins do not show.

  • AHA !! :)

    ...well, I just ran the wget command via a scheduled task, and noticed 2 things. First, the instructions in

    omv7:new_user_guide [omv-extras.org]

    have "| sudo bash" at the end, instead of just "| bash". I ran it with the additional "sudo".

    Best part is that this time it seems to have worked, though I did get the errors below. I do have now the extras plugins showing up in the "plugins" section, so I assume the github file was modified since last night ? The new file has numbered steps, as well as downloaded way more files.

    Errors:

    Do I need to worry about either of these errors ? How can I fix them ?

    Cheers!

    $ su

    Here is the problem. This command does not use root's profile. You should use su -

    No but next just login as root.

    ...sorry, got sidetracked and forgot to post the outputs you asked for

    root@NAS-OMV:/# echo $PATH

    /usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/local/games:/usr/games

    the output from

    root@NAS-OMV:/# dpkg -l | grep openme

    now shows all the extras packages I just installed since I succeeded above... sorry I did not do it earlier.

    root@NAS-OMV:/# echo $PATH

    /usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/local/games:/usr/games

    This is caused by using su instead of su - as I mentioned above. Logging in as root or just using sudo like the directions mention is preferred to su.
