Lost SSH access

  • I installed OMV on a WD Mycloud device. I also installed NZBGet and added a startup script at /etc/init.d/nzbget.

    After I did this, I was attempting to change the SSH port and got the following error:

    Now, I'm getting a connection refused message using Putty. Anything I can do to fix this?

    Try uninstalling nzbget.

    omv 7.0.5-1 sandworm | 64 bit | 6.8 proxmox kernel

    plugins :: omvextrasorg 7.0 | kvm 7.0.13 | compose 7.1.6 | k8s 7.1.0-3 | cputemp 7.0.1 | mergerfs 7.0.4

    omv-extras.org plugins source code and issue tracker - github - changelogs

  • I was trying to change the port via the gui. The error I received when trying to make the change is in the OP, and now I can't access via ssh. I can still get into the gui.

    Did you install nzbget via plugin or command line? I thought you used the plugin. That is why I told you to uninstall it using the web interface.

  • If you install webmin you can edit files on the system drive with it's file manager. Then you can reboot. But first you need to know what to edit. It is probably something to do with the /etc/ssh/sshd_config file. Change the port in that file back to 22, if it is not 22, and reboot.

    You can use the scheduled jobs to try and run commands.
    You can try update-rc.d nzbget disable, update-rc.d nzbget remove, rm /etc/init.d/nzbget

    Great idea :) You could also try to start ssh that way - service ssh start
