I haven't installed OMV yet, but was wondering if it is possible to run this: http://dbpoweramp.com/asset-upnp-dlna.htm
I like the sort orders it offers for audio.
Asset UPNP

It has a Debian package so there is no reason it shouldn't be able to be installed. Too bad it isn't open source... $29 for audio only?? Too much.

Its free. You only have to pay if you want the extra features like Internet Radio.

What does it do that minidlna/plexmediaserver/mediabrowser can't do?
-
So far I have only tried minidlna. Asset UPNP is able to sort on almost any MP3 tag you wish, for example "Year". You can quickly pick out the latest music in your collection. Also serves up Album cover artwork. I will have to try the other 2 media servers and report back.

Could anyone help me get Asset UPNP server going on OMV? After I install OMV what would I have to do? SSH into terminal some how?

Enable ssh in OMV web interface. Use putty to ssh into the server and login as root user using password you created at installation. Then just follow their instructions.

Thanks for the help. Got it working. The only problem I had was Chrome won't load the config page. Had to use IExplorer from windows.

Did you try firefox?

Curious how Asset UPNP has worked out for you. Did you test any others?

it is working fantastic! what I like about it is there is a lot of options on how you can sort your music. I am now using it combined with Bubble UPNP Server and can access my music from anywhere.
-
I have been using Asset now for a while and it is very good in conjunction with BubbleUPnP.
The Internet radio functionality with the paid version is mostly useless, almost never loads a station. Otherwise it is the best I have tried. Much better than the MiniDNLA plugin currently available for OMV. 12% lower CPU load than MiniDLNA. -

It can be difficult to get Asset UPnP configured to scan the music folder on the OMV NAS. The instructions given on the Asset forum to set the path have not worked for several people I have seen seeking help, including me.
The path must include the UUID of the shared media folder in OMV.
e.g.
xxx= the UUID you will find in your config.xml by searching for "media"
