Der NAS soll im idle in den deep Standby bzw aus gehen und per WakeOnLAN wieder angehen sobald dieser gebraucht wird. Also nicht nur die HDDs in standby schicken sondern komplett.
Genau so funktioniert es bei mir.
Wie kann ich denn zusätzlich Infos anschauen wie z.B. Auslastung, CPU-Temperatur und co.?
Hast du dir schon mal die Log-Files von Autoshutdown angesehen? Da kann man recht gut nachvollziehen, warum Autoshutdown nicht herunterfährt.
Außerdem gibt es in den Einstellungen des Plugins einen erweiterten Log-Modus. Da wird man regelrecht erschlagen mit Informationen, was das Ding macht. Aber für Fehlersuche ideal.

I didn´t read this thread completely but I want to point out that this controller chip is basically supported by Debian. The Asrock Board which I am using for OMV has the same chip onboard and it works flawlessly.

My question is. What is the best raid for media hdd 6tb and 4 tb knowing I want to add more hdd on the way.
To use disks with different size is difficult in a "classic" raid solution. If you want to create a software raid in OMV (mdadm) you can only use the size of the smallest disk for all disks, in your case 2x 4TB. And with two disks the only valuable configuration in a NAS is a mirror. That means out of 10 TB disk space only 4TB remains.
You should have a look at the unionfs plugin where you can pool disks of different size under a common mount point. And you have the possibility to add more disks later.

You should mention which OMV version you are using and on which hardware platform you have installed it.
It´s difficult to support without knowing what we are talking about.
It could be a dying SD-card or USB-stick for example.

Ich verwende dafür mc-wol.exe unter Windows. Als Parameter bekommt es noch die MAC-Adresse der Netzwerkkarte des NAS übergeben und ab damit in den Autostart und schon wacht das NAS automatisch mit dem Start des PC auf, wie macom schon schrieb.
Es gibt viele solcher Tools und auch für verschiedenste Betriebssysteme.
Schwieriger wird es immer dann, wenn es Systeme betrifft, wo man nicht so einfach an das System herankommt, z.B. Smart-TVs, Multimedia-Player, Tablets usw. Aber auch da gibt es oft Apps mit denen das möglich ist. Manchmal kommt man auch um einen Jailbreak oder Root nicht herum.

In any case you should unmount a drive before removing it. But if you have configured shares OMV doesn´t allow you to unmount it, because the drive is in use.

I would say this is the better way.
If I have to power it down, disconnect to the HDD that needs defragged, is it okay to power up the pi/OMV without it so the other drive attached is usable to the users while I do the defragging??
In this case the missing drive is shown as "n.a.". But the question is, how the system behaves if you reconnect the missing drive later.
Maybe someone other may chime in and answer this question?

Meine Fritzbox ist so eingestellt das sie dem vom Internetanbieter empfohlenen DNS Server zugreift..ist das nciht richti?
Ich kann den auhc sicherlich ändern, aber die Frage ist welchen DNS Server soll ich hier angeben den von Google: 8.8.8.8?Ich habe die DNS Einstellung in OMV gemeint. Also auf der Seite, wo auch WOL eingeschaltet werden kann. Dort gibt es den Eintrag "DNS Server". Hier steht üblicherweise die Router-Adresse oder du kannst auch die Google DNS-Adresse 8.8.8.8 eintragen.
Ich habe einfach nur auf das Netzlaufwerk gedrückt, welches ich in Windows verbunden habe. Als das nicht funktiniert hat, habe ich versucht über das Web interface zuzugreifen.
So funktioniert Autoshutdown nicht. Das OMV NAS ist dann wirklich im Standby oder komplett heruntergefahren und man muss ein "Magic Packet" (gibt auch noch andere Methoden) an die Netzwerkkarte schicken, damit das NAS wieder aufwacht.
Es ist nicht so, wie bei anderen kommerziellen NASsen, dass im Standby z.B. die LAN-Aktivität überwacht wird und wenn sich da was tut, das System wieder aufgeweckt wird. Das System, welches Zugriff auf die NAS-Netzwerklaufwerke haben will, muss selbst dafür sorgen, dass es aufgeweckt wird.Es gibt im Internet diverse Eigenbaulösungen, die ein energiesparendes System nutzen (z.B. einen RPi) und schauen, ob bestimmte Lan- oder Wlan-Teilnehmer aktiv sind und dann das NAS aufweckt.

Die NAS lässt sich in den Schlafmodus versetzen, das funktioniert ohne Probleme, allerdings lässt sich die NAS danach nicht mehr aufwecken wenn ich vom Computer drauf zugreifen will.
Erste Frage: Mit welcher Methode hast du versucht das NAS aufzuwecken? Mit einem "Magic Packet" oder wie?
Auf den Screenshots sieht man, dass dort kein DNS konfiguriert ist. Das solltest du bitte nachholen. Andernfalls kann es Probleme mit der Update-Funktion von OMV geben. Das hat jetzt nichts mit deinem aktuellen WOL-Problem zu tun.
Die WOL-Einstellung in der Fritzbox gelten nur für den Zugriff aus dem Internet. D.h. wenn du im Router Ports freigeschaltet hast, um auf das NAS vom Internet aus zugreifen zu können, dann sendet die FritzBox ein Magic Packet an das NAS und weckt es auf. Im lokalen Lan macht die Fritzbox gar nichts.
Der NAS über die Fritzbox eine feste IP Adresse zugeordnet -> könnte dies vermutlich der Fehler sein, da die Konfiguration im OMV der Netzwerkkarte bei IP4 auf DHP steht?
Nein, das ist nicht der Fehler. Wenn das NAS auf DHCP steht, sorgt diese Option in der Fritzbox dafür, dass das NAS immer die selbe IP-Adresse zugewiesen bekommt. Deine Konfiguration ist richtig, auch deswegen, da du ja auf das Web-Interface von OMV zugreifen kannst.
Ich würde testweise die Autoshutdown-Einstellung mal auf "Herunterfahren" statt auf "Unterbrechen" stellen und es dann noch einmal testen.
Für das Aufwecken über Magic Packet gibt es verschiedene Tools, die das erlauben und mit denen man die Funktion testen kann. Womit wir aber wieder bei meiner Eingangsfrage wären.

The configuration database of OMV is /etc/openmediavault/config.xml. Everytime a setting is changed in the web interface the configuration is stored in this file.
But be careful. You should always make a backup copy of this file, before making changes. -
One suggestion for dev-s. If i start install this pluging, maybe some screentip (before ) need for this information NB!.
Maybe this information (to use the proxmox kernel, headers...) can be added to the ZFS plugin descriptive text => ryecoaaron?

For ZFS and the ZFS plugin it is recommended first to install the proxmox kernel.

Plex can work with read only folders. Plex uses a database for meta data (thumbnails, covers, media information,...) and doesn´t change the original folders. It is possible to delete files from the Plex GUI, but then this is a intentional process.

Did you install some OMV updates after first configuring openmediavault? Is the WD red drive housed in a case with a JMicron USB2Sata-bridge?

I doubt it. The mono libraries the Emby uses are so old on Debian 8 that it probably doesn't work anymore.

I´m currently using a quite old OMV version 3.0.100, the last one of OMV3. Everything is running quite smoothly and I can do (almost) everything I need with it. I've already thought about reinstalling with omv5 several times, but for now other things are higher in priority. So I ask your indulgence for this question.
Now I would also need Emby on the server. Is there still a real chance of installing Emby on the Debian 8 system? I found this posting in the forum: Plugins that are wanted - Part 5
ryecoaaron: Is there a chance that this approach will still work?
I realize that it would be better to switch to OMV5, which I will definitely do one day.

I installed the Flash Memory plugin and am trying to modify the fstab file.
It is not mandatory to edit /etc/fstab. The plugin works without this modification too: flashmemory plugin for OMV 5.x

Ja, exakt. Es liegt daran, dass die Hauptlast der Plugin-Pflege für die Portierung auf eine neue OMV-Version bei ryecoaaron liegt bzw. lag und er viele Plugins selbst nicht nutzt.
Da sich offensichtlich auch für die Pflege der Plugins selbst immer weniger Leute finden, wurde der Weg über die Docker-Images gewählt.
Zu dem Thema gibt´s hier im Forum noch diverse Threads, allerdings überwiegend auf Englisch.
Was die Aktualisierung der Docker-Images betrifft, geht das wohl mit Portainer / Cockpit relativ einfach. Genauers kann ich aber nicht berichten, denn mir steht da auch noch eine Lernkurve bevor, wenn ich mal von meinem OMV3 auf eine neuere Version umsteige.
