I think sdc has partition, is sdc1.
-
so what should i do then? with ryecoaaron command suggestions
-
It doesn't have a partition after dd zeros to it. Or did you not do the dd command?
-
-
this is waht i did
#1mdadm --stop /dev/md127
#2
mdadm --assemble /dev/md127 /dev/sd[abc1def] --verbose --force
i did but in a 1 after the c
that made it do this ---> mdadm: /dev/md127 has been started with 5 drives (out of 6) and 1 spare.
now its rebuilding
mdadm: mdadm has no superblock - assembly aborted
root@openmediavault:~# mdadm --stop /dev/md127

so subzero79 where on the right track
-
Let it finish syncing. Then reboot. It should add it. If not, it dropped down to a raid 5 array. It can be converted back to raid 6.
-
-
thanx for all the help ryecoaaron
i really hope its still raid 6 -
its says degraded, but rebuilding
raid level 6 -
Why did this happen?
not good if the array go bananas when a drive fails -
-
Since it says raid6, it is just syncing before the reboot should add the spare.
It is hard to prepare for everything when a drive fails.
-
I did not do the dd command by the way .
When am i suppose to do that?
Thats just to clear the disc from any data or partition? -
@subzero79 thanks for your help as well!
-
-
The dd command removes partitions and other items that could potentially cause mdadm to not want to use the drive.
