Increase Software RAID5 write speed

If it is in there, you have the same rc.local that I do. Not sure why it doesn't work. What is the output of cat /proc/mdstat?

You have everything right. I'm actually using this on three systems without a problem.

Does it work if you execute /etc/rc.local as root?

Do you see s21rc.local in /etc/rc3.d, /etc/rc4.d, etc?

  • Note this line in rc.local

    Code
    # In order to enable or disable this script just change the execution bits.

    What is the output of:

    Code
    ls -la rc.local

    ?

    You probably need to:

    Code
    chmod u+x /etc/rc.local
  • Code
    chmod u+x

    or

    chmod a+x

  • Just curious... can I make these tweaks to a pre-existing array with data on it? I will back up the data if I need to but I'd rather not have to.

You can change the stripe cache size with data and while mounted. I have many times.

  • How would the blockdev tuning affect the array?

Never used (or needed) it. He says it may cause data loss though.

  • Im' on the newest OMV, I checked via cat /sys/block/md0/md/stripe_cache_size , output : 513

I have 4Go RAM, I'm on reshape, free 3,7 Go.

    What should I do ? How should I tune my RAID6 ?

    Thanks

EDIT : I'm running systemrescuecd for reshape, that's probably the reason ?
