New install of latest OMV version did not produce Web interface IP address.

  • Hello everyone!

I have been using OMV for quite some time on an older machine. I recently purchased a new Dell Poweredge T30 so that I can upgrade and expand my server (my old one simple cannot be upgraded any further to meet my needs). I used my optical drive to install OMV and did not have any issues at all until the very end where the IP address for the web interface is shown. I get an comment that nothing was available.

That said, my router is assigning the server and IP address and, using that address, I am able to successfully login to the OMV web interface and all else works as I would expect ~ I can do updates, get and install plugins, etc.

My concern is that the IP address is clearly not static. After having the power shut-off overnight to the server, my router assigned a new IP address to the sever. What might be causing this and how do I correct it?

    Thanks for the help everyone.

In the GUI in network/interfaces you can configure a static IP adress (instead of DHCP).
Make sure to also configure the DNS
