Chat application open source

Hello community,
has anyone successfully installed any open source chat application on a OMV server?
Ideally the chat app should have an android client as well.
Synology NAS for example have a very nice chat app and I am sure there are plenty around that would work on OMV.
Any ideas / experiences?

A quick search suggests rocket chat. There is a server available on docker hub and clients for most platforms. Community version free and open source. I haven't tried it. Most likely there are many, many others as well if you search.

You can also install mattermost, it is similar to slack. We use it at work, replaced openfire and spark.

and another option is Matrix-Synapse. An offcial dockker image is available here: https://hub.docker.com/r/matrixdotorg/synapse/
Clients are available for iOS/Android as well as Win/Mac/Linux-Desktops and a Brower-based version.

Thabks for your tips! I tried mattermost but it has no end to end encryption.

Matrix-Synapse is useless as Synapse resides external.

Mattermost seems ok - has anyone installed this successfully on OMV?

I;m hosting it inside LXC,but i guess it could also be in docker.
