Questions about OMV5 re-installation on Odroid HC2

  • Hi, i need to install OMV again on my Odroid HC2. To now i have to follow this Installing OMV5 on Raspberry PI's, Armbian SBC's, & i386 32-bit platforms, the one for "(Applies to most popular SBC models, the Odriods, Rock64, Renegade, NanoPi, BananaPi and several others.)". Correct?

I have also some other questions:

    1. During reinstall, should i disconnect the HD from the Odroid?

    2. After the system will be up, what should i do to restore the share folders?

    3. Should i do this update again https://wiki.odroid.com/odroid…oftware/jms578_fw_update?

    correct?

    Thanks in advance!

  • 1. During reinstall, should i disconnect the HD from the Odroid?

It's allways a good idea to disconnect data drives while reinstalling.

    2. After the system will be up, what should i do to restore the share folders?

Just re-attach your data drives, mount them and reconfigure your shares containing your existing folders.

I can't answer that. Maybe ryecoaaron can.

    Greetings

    David

Should i do this update again

I assume you wouldn't need to since you already did it. I would check the version to see if it is current.

  • Oh, i installed Armbian without removing the data drive. Will see if everything is ok.

At this point i have to issue the command:

    Code
    wget -O - https://github.com/OpenMediaVault-Plugin-Developers/installScript/raw/master/install | sudo bash

The pdf guide says "Once the script is running, click out of the SSH window so the script will not be interrupted. Depending on
several factors, running this script may take up to 30 minutes."

This means the script does not need interaction from me? I can start it and disconnect putty completely and check after 30 min?

i installed Armbian without removing the data drive.

I install armbian with the drive attached all the time. The real issue installing with the hard drive connected is with the OMV iso not the arm images.

This means the script does not need interaction from me?

    It shouldn't.

I can start it and disconnect putty completely and check after 30 min?

Definitely NOT unless you start the script in a screen or tmux session. If you disconnect, the script process will die.

So the issue is present when installing omv alone without armbian?

Ok so it says "click out" and not "close".

install OMV on an amd64 system with the official OMV iso.

Ok so it says "click out" and not "close".

He meant click away from the putty window so that it did not have focus. In other words, go have a coffee or beer.

  • Fun fact is that i downloaded two times the image "Armbian_20.05.7_Odroidxu4_buster_legacy_4.14.187".

As stated in the guide, the software to check the image gave me a sha, but the one from the Armbian site was different. Probably me missing something, right?

And the second difference i found was that after the change of the root password, armbian did not ask to create a non-root user. Well i suppose i can create it directly from OMV Gui.

I just downloaded it and the sha matches:

    $ sha256sum Armbian_20.05.7_Odroidxu4_buster_legacy_4.14.187.img.xz

    b2aa8bd087c1d0c7bfa2b016fd5d35a49256d6a9b491ef85b712d9768038b66a Armbian_20.05.7_Odroidxu4_buster_legacy_4.14.187.img.xz

What does the guide tell you to use to calculate the sha sum?

Maybe that utility is showing the sha sums of the image not the compressed image?
