Hi all, I hope it is the right thread to post my question. I am moving from QNAP to OMV, and my build is finally ready. I am using my build for more than just NAS and OMV will be running on VM. here is my setup:
- MB - WS c246m pro
- CPU - xeon 2126G
- system drive - WD SSD
- ram - 32GB 2666 ECC UDIMM
- case - norco rpc-2304 4 x hot swap HDD bays
- case passive backplane is mini SAS and connected directly to 4 SATA ports on the motherboard with the reverse breakout SFF-8087 cable
Problem I experience is when I boot the machine, the 4 HDDs in the bays are not detected. BIOS is upgraded to the latest, and CSM is enabled. Before choosing the setup I confirmed from many sources that this setup with the SFF-8087 will work. Did anyone here have any experience with passive mini SAS backplane to SATA connection? Also, attached layout for clarity.
Any help appreciated.
