OMV4 Upgrade non-RAID data disk

  • I am running OMV 4.1 on an ODROID C1 that's booting from an SD card and has a 4TB spinning disk for data. This drive is beginning to report SMART errors so I purchased a 6TB to replace it. It is a single drive (no RAID in use). What is the recommended method to do this?

I have encountered issues in the past with the disk device ID (maybe the partition ID?) being recorded and volumes fail to mount at boot. This is not a current issue, but I fear running into it again if I don't do this right.

I searched with Google and I tried searching the forums here, but all I found was related to RAID setups. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I would clone the drive using clonezilla. You might have to connect the two drives on a PC/laptop and boot into clonezilla live.

Or just copy them with rsync.

The ID issue is probably related to the USB to sata controller, not to the drive.
