Cannot access WEbUI after trying to set up nginx

Thanks for any help in advance.

Today I was trying to set up nginx thinking that would help me get access to plex as I could not connect to plex from the internet even though the ports on the firewall were opened.

Since then I cannot access the WebUI at all not even from the same network. Any ideas how to fix this? BTW I had set up a pool called plex and then tried to link to the pool using port 80 (which I think is where I made the mistake) but did not first publish the directory that plex resides in.

I just went through my emails and found this from monit...

Execution failed Service nginx

Date: Thu, 02 Oct 2014 08:55:44

Tried it but that does not work for me.

ssh to the box and executed:
service nginx restart
then a reboot
ps does not tell me that nginx is running when I run
ps -ef|grep nginx

when I do a plex nginx restart it returns

a message indicating that port 80 is already in use.

still getting the same message. I'll do a restart then execute the command "/etc/init.d/plexmediaserver stop " again and see if that works. Give me a couple. thanks.

That gave me back the WebUI. Thanks rycoaaron and subzero for your help.

The reason for that was that despite opening the port I could not access plex from the internet neither do I get the wordpress site from outside.

Yes everything works fine from the network just not the internet so in my limited wisdom (apparently very limited) I thought that it needed some kind of forwarding internally or advertising. What do we use nginx for and when?
