Plex - Hardware transcode with Nvidia

Hi all!

I'm new here, and i have a problem with the configuration of hardware transcode with a Nvidia GPU.

I have a Plex server inside a container on Docker Plugin (Thanks to Technodad's tutorials!).

I have read the instructions here: hub.docker.com/r/linuxserver/plex and here: github.com/NVIDIA/nvidia-docker , but i dont know where and how adding the "--runtime=nvidia" command.

Someone can help me?

Have you tried to add it to "extra arguments" in the docker-gui plugin?

I need to copy only "--runtime=nvidia" (without "") or i need some parameters like "-d" or others?

I did not read the links you posted. I assumed that one of them indicated that this argument should be used when launching the image.

Reading the second link I found:
"Note that with the release of Docker 19.03, usage of nvidia-docker2 packages are deprecated"

So for me it seems you don't need this argument.

maybe ask the linuxserver guys on their discord channel how to handle it now. They are very friendly.

i know this post is a bit old but there doesnt seem to be much info out there on it. May be able to help someone else looking. i finally got this to work.... once plex, nvidia-docker and the nvidia driver are installed correctly like mentioned in the first post '--runtime=nvidia' can be added in portainer. if you edit the plex container in portainer... go to the runtime & resources tab at the bottom and 'nvidia' will appear in the runtime pull down menu. you also need to add 2 environment variables:

NVIDIA_DRIVER_CAPABILITIES = compute,video,utility

and

NVIDIA_VISIBLE_DEVICES = your GPU UUID

your GPU UUID can be found by typing:

nvidia-smi -q

in the command line and your GPU UUID will be near the top of the list
