What about http://linux.die.net/man/8/fancontrol ?
-
The sensors plugin has this feature, but how do I enable it?
I don't need to control the fan speed, just for reading. -
If your hardware is compatible it should show fan speed.
What do you get when you run sensors from the shell? -
Code
Alles anzeigensensors acpitz-virtual-0 Adapter: Virtual device temp1: +27.8°C (crit = +105.0°C) temp2: +29.8°C (crit = +105.0°C) coretemp-isa-0000 Adapter: ISA adapter Physical id 0: +34.0°C (high = +80.0°C, crit = +100.0°C) Core 0: +34.0°C (high = +80.0°C, crit = +100.0°C) Core 1: +31.0°C (high = +80.0°C, crit = +100.0°C)

pwmconfig is part of fancontrol.
Why you are fiddeling with sudo?
We are not on Ubuntu... -
I'm not logging as root.
Always log in as root isn't a good idea. -
None of your sensors support fan speed so that feature will not work for you, sorry.
-
Are you telling me that the sensors plugin doesn't have the config for my CPU Corsair fans at all ?
-
It can only obtain info for the sensors built in to your motherboard.
If there is a linux utility program that works in linux you maybe able to use that the the plugin works using the mother boards sensors. -
I'm not logging as root.
Always log in as root isn't a good idea.In this case, you should...
-
@Dropkick,
You're worry about the wrong issue here.
You can use 'sudo' to have the same privileges as root for most cases.
