Error: "Failed to read file '/tmp/bgstatusfs2WVj' (size=0)."

  • I have built 2 machine one with microserver hp gen10 (no problem) one with sempron 2000+ and sata hdd 1 gb of ram and has a lot of issue.

But if "it is a php bug i should have it on both side"

Can i help with diff one config and another?

It has nothing to do with hardware. I see it on my VMs sometimes and other times I don't. I see it on hardware with the same changing frequency.

  • Hi All,

I have the same issue, machine with AMD procesors.
    OMV: 4.1.5-1/ Arrakis

    Description the same as @Sjonnie

additional afer apt-get install xxxxx have some errors (the same what show @Sjonnie

    Issue on chrome and firefox

Any sugestion how to fix? Developers should fix the issue by change code, not waiting for php upgrade

  • Is the update to 4.1.6 available yet? Update Manager doesn´t find it here and I´m still on 4.1.5-1

Nope. Volker usually doesn't push a new package for one fix unless it is a show stopper.

  • I'm not expert in patching/github, could you please explain how to manually update OMV (not wait for officail version)?

I don't recommend doing that. This bug isn't dangerous (just annoying) and you should be able to wait for the release.

I understand but after fresh install in web OMV config I can't assing new disk/riad and next config other services so from my perspective this a serious problem. To resolve issue I can make all manually in shell but for that I would download any other linux distrubution (eg. debian, base of omv distribution).

Could you estimate when will be new release?

  • I manually edit the file, and it's working fine.

Maeby I make something wrong, becasue after replace file I got this (in file system menu):

    My operation is

    1. wget https://raw.githubusercontent.…t/rpc/serviceabstract.inc
    2. mv serviceabstract.inc usr/share/php/openmediavault/rpc/serviceabstract.inc
    3. Login to OMV web portal
    4. not working, clear web cache CRTL+F5
    5. still now working

This is new error or the same?

  • Do you speak about:

    sourceforge.net/projects/openm…lt_4.1.6_all.deb/download

    (update ~20h ago)

    Yes.

If yes then just extract and replace all files?

NOOOOO. You found that package in the repo. So, it is available as an update from the repo. As with all updates, just click Check in the System -> Update Management tab in the web interface, check the checkbox for that update (and others if you want - I would), and click upgrade.

Will be new release in ISO format?

Not sure but it really isn't needed. Install with the latest ISO and then install all updates from Updates tab. Then you will have it.

Thank you and developer for support.

The failed to read from socket error is caused by OMV's engined being restarted. This is unavoidable and harmless.

The python error has been discussed many times and has a thread about it/how to fix but it is harmless as well.
