prevent laptop suspend/shutdown when closing the lid

Just my own experience on the two different methods I found on this thread:

Running this command in cli:

sudo systemctl mask sleep.target suspend.target hibernate.target hybrid-sleep.target

while it did the work, I found that my idle CPU usage spiked up to 30-40% as soon as I closed the lid after.

Howeer, editing /etc/systemd/logind.conf and adding HandleLidSwitch=ignore worked well for me without adversely affecting the idle CPU usage. YMMV, but this was my experience...
