OMV only supports the version that is shipped with the Debian system it is based on. You can check that version on https://packages.debian.org. For OMV4 you can check it here: https://packages.debian.org/stretch/python3
thx you again.
Any suggestion what (config) files i should move to the clean install to keep my settings ?
OMV does not support the import/export of config settings. But if you use the config file of the same OMV version you could simply copy the /etc/openmediavault/config.xml file. Note that no servive is started/stopped or service configuration is generated automatically. You have to do that all manually (that feature comes with OMV5).

Does that mean, you could copy the config.xml and then run omv-mkconf for each service and you are done?

Sadly not. The config is generated, but the service is not started or stopped based on the config. You need to do that manually. And again, in OMV5 this will be one command: 'omv-salt stage run deploy' :-). But it takes some time until OMV5 is done. But this shows me i'm on the right way.
I have the same problem.
Hi Merlinux,
The same error msg as me:
#

The error messages make sense, but nevertheless i'm really out of ideas what is going wrong on your system.
sad very sad.
But thx a lot for trying
As mentoines earlyer I just wait for the omv 5 to be stable and give it a try...
regards
Did you try setup your omv4 from scratch?
If I were you I would try that, instead of waiting for omv5.
Regards Hoppel
No not these particular System i have the error.
I Have several other that are working fine, but this one shows these odd erros msg.
That's why like to wait on this system for the omv 5 and then do an update.

Kind regards

Please don't try to update a broken system to OMV 5.x. It probably won't fix this very strange issue.
Thx for the hint.
I have a backup in case something went wrong. But how is the best way to copy the omv4 config to a fresh system then ?
You mentioned that omv will have such a feature but it's not ready yet.
Fair enough so I will wait.
Keep up your great work and thank you for your patient
regards

You can't. You will have to manually setup everything again.
