OMV 5 and disaster process

    Hi all,


    I am currently running OMV 5.5.12-1 on

    Gigabyte GA-MA790X-UD4 - Phenom 9600 - 8GB DDR2

    SSD kingstom 240GB for system

    4* 1TB SAS drives for datas


    Just in to feel safe I understood that installing a OMV on a new hardware then pluging the data disks could be enought to recover my datas

    That is what I understood reading this (Re)Installation of OpenMediaVault

    Am I correct ?

    Correct. However you will have to do all the configuration (user, shared folders, services .... ) from scratch.


    If you just want to move to a new hardware/MOBO, you can just plug your OS drive and data drive to the new hardware. Should work unless you use very new hardware. Only thing that is needed is to run omv-firstaid to configure the network interface.
