I've got a Kingston XS1000 - 2 TB external SSD drive, connected via USB 3.0 to my mini-pc (HP 260 G2 MINI I3-6100U/4GB/120GB SSD). My router is a Unifi Dream Router.
Granted that's no professional equipment, but I see no reason why the transfer speed would be as low as 5 MB/s. I'm transferring from my Windows 11 laptop, so assuming it's got something to do with SMB...?
I see slow speed is one of the "common problems" listed (Problem #5 Solutions to common problems), but I don't understand the solutions provided in the first linked topics (Tunning Samba for more speed). What are the "EXTRA OPTIONS"? What is the "GLOBAL" section?
Also the second linked topic (Tuning Samba for more speed 2) is a mystery to me. What exactly is suggested here, and how could I apply it?
Also, both threads are almost 8 years old...
Thanks in advance for your help and hopefully magic! Because you can imagine I'm a bit disappointed...
