There is no guide in OMV because you have to look at the mergerfs documentation and the snapraid documentation.

    mergerfs

    SnapRAID

Anyway, I think you might find some pointers here.

    omv7:omv7_plugins:mergerfs [omv-extras.org]

    omv7:omv7_plugins:snapraid [omv-extras.org]

  • The best place for definitive information about SnapRAID is https://www.snapraid.it/.

You should read the FAQ and Manual sections. But section 4.4 of the Manual is where you will eventually wind up. Be careful and follow directions exactly.

A backup strategy is worthless unless you have a verified to work by testing restore strategy.

  • I had a drive with bad sectors in my MergerFS pool (also using Snapraid). If you can clone this disk (I used an offline disk duplicator I got from Amazon), it is pretty easy to replace the drive.

I shut down OMV, then cloned the drive with bad sectors. Put the new drive in and booted up. Because the UUID was copied as well, MergerFS recognized it as the original drive. Then I ran Snapraid Fix, followed by Sync. And now everything is back to normal. You'll also have to set up any Smart tests/monitoring you may have had running on that drive.

Is this old airplane safe to fly? How in the world do you think it got to be this old?
