Did you try to log into mysql with the user 'omvadmin' or with 'root' and did you reset the pwd beforehand?
-
I tried to login with 'root' and no password, with 'admin' and no password, with 'root' and 'openmediavault' and with 'admin and 'openmediavault'. None worked. I have to mention that I tried to reset the password through Plugin-GUI on another OMV installation in advance and since there it was not working I checked those combinations. After my login attempts failed, I used the reset password on my current setup as well and tried 'root' with 'my password' and 'admin' with 'my password'
Have not checked 'omvadmin' yet.

That is exactly what I did. Without management site, login attempts would not be possilble through GUI anyway. (exception would be a separate phpmyadmin-install, which I do not use)
Since I wanted to setup Nextcloud as native install on a fresh OMV4, I had to prepare DB and DB user in advance.

??? Does it work now with omvadmin as root user? The screenshot above was just to illustrrate where the info is from.

I switched back to fresh install of OMV 3...and it works...

The mySQL bug prevents me right now from upgrading to a fresh OMV4. I prefer a fresh setup.
I tried a upgrade from a running OMV3 to OMV4 with MySQL etc. running and it worked as well.
Edit: MySQL-management-site login works with omvadmin as account und resettet password.

Hi all,
I know this was a while ago but I've just come up against a similar problem and thought my findings would be relevant.
What was happening was that the myWebSQL interface was not allowing access with the user 'root'.
For me it was allowing access with 'omvadmin', and a host of other users I have created but not 'root'.
In a ssh window mysql -u root -p was working and I could log in, but still not with 'root'' via myWebSQL.
So I've just come back after a couple hours to type all this up, tried again to look at the error I was getting and whaddaya know? Now I can log in with root. It's working now. But it didn't. Really. And I did nothing to fix it. Apart from go have dinner. I didn't even restart the mysql service or anything.
And yes I checked all the daft stuff like the password caps lock etc etc... Honest, it really wasn't working - the error was something like "database connection failed to the server".
No idea.
But just to be clear logging in with 'omvadmin' always worked. It was user 'root' I was having a problem with.
Andy.
