There are no Virtualbox packages in Debian 10. So, I added the option to install Cockpit via a button in omv-extras. This provides an web interface to create VMs using KVM/QEMU.

no problem with portainer and cokpit in the same machine?

I don't know your hardware or use case. I run OMV as a vm under proxmox. This way keeps OMV stock.
If you want to use zfs do it under proxmox and assign what you need to OMV. I have had no problems with zfs under proxmox yet.
You will also have more options for running vm's. One disadvantage is proxmox does not do docker. But you can always run a vm for that.

cockpit is just a web interface to docker and kvm. portainer is just a docker image. I don't see why there would be an issue. Redhat probably wouldn't allow you to install the cockpit kvm module and docker module at the same time if they didn't work on the same system. That said, I don't use cockpit. I use proxmox just as donh said with dockers run in a virtual machine.

strange, i use docker inside lxc without problem. For vm in proxmox, OMV and passtrough hdd, i have problem with S.M.A.R.T., any test not working for check.

Hello Everyone,
I have been trying to do the same here, meaning: Use OMV inside proxmox. My goal would be to passthrough a LSI SAS9208 8i (with IT Mode Firmware), and then OMV would natively see the disk on the LSI.
Problem is: I can't boot the VM with the LSI Passthough... something weird going on booting the LSI Bios... I need to better investigate how to do it.Anyway it would be nice to have KVM inside OMV, this could open another scenarios...

The Error message is something like "Failed to load BIOS".
I will try again, and this time putting it on the blacklist.Cockpit is very limited for VMs where it regards to options for resources to be allocated.

Do you have a better option that is easy to install and use?

Tested by me, not really.
But two used choices seems to be webvirtmgr and kimchi

Try installing debian buster. Does that work?

And I managed to solve it but make the BIOS Not loading it (the Server BIOS)

kimchi isn't really maintained anymore and requires libvirt-bin which is not in the Debian Buster repos. If you need more features, maybe proxmox is the way to go.

I'm already on proxmox....
Just facing now some issues with UnionFS

What about integration with proxmox/kvm/pure qemu or smth?
