Can not claim Plex server

  • I was watching this video

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CzMSuRyfMS0&t=758s

followed all the steps(setup portainer, deployed plex, setup my media folders)

then when i went to log into the server (https://192.x.x.x:32400/web)

I see a (!) next to my server name. I click on it.
Then go to claim the server.

I log in with my plex pass userid and pwd.

then I get a error that says" plex claim server there was a problem signing in "

I am not sure if this is a network issue or what but I am stuck right now.

  • Does your login work on the plex.tv web site? Try going to My Account on that page and signing out and signing in again.

  • Try setting the PLEX_CLAIM environment variable in the container configuration.

    Code
    https://hub.docker.com/r/linuxserver/plex

Scroll down to the Parameters section.

  • Have you looked in the log file for the container yet?

  • I encountered this problem a month ago... And found the instructions on how to claim the server at https://support.plex.tv/articl…666-opening-plex-web-app/

Specifically I used the instructions in the section labeled "OS X or Linux". I had to ssh to my server, create a tunnel (after re-enabling tunneling) and then use my local browser on my desktop to open the Plex interface through the tunnel. It was easy once you know what needs to be done, but it should be made a lot easier on Plex's part. Good luck!

  • This might be a long shot but have you tried to remove all "Authorized Devices"? (Settings > Authorized Devices)

When I used Plex via OMV Docker Image, I frequently had some Claim server issues. It seem to help to remove the browser from Authorized Devices. Then I had to login again from that browser. If I remember correctly that seemed to work a couple of times.

Hi - I just installed plex through OMV5/Portainer and getting this the error of claiming my plex server. When i try to claim it through the plex web. I followed the SSH tunnel route, but when I try to access via http://localhost:8888/web (after setting up this tunnel through puTTy), I get 'site can't be reached'.

Are there any ideas, as I can see the plex server on my web browser but just can't claim it?

I tried adding the PLEX_CLAIM through the docker environment variable as well but that didnt work.
