I have used OMV 2 with Plex, couch potato, and AFP, sickbeard. It was working fine.
I recently messed up my system and switched to OMV 4 via apt-get.
I cannot use AFP anymore. Is there any chance of re-installing this plug-in on OMV4?
which version to use OMV 2, 3 or 4

Go back to OMV3 this is stable and install there the Plugin.
Maybe backup the Configuration file and import it via omv-mkconf on a fresh system if you prefer to have a clean Setup -
