Samba sees files, but not ssh - curious

  • I have a strange issue. When I look at my samba shares on my OMV server, I can see all of my files. The OMV web interface says the file systems have files, 40+% full etc.

However, if I ssh into my OMV server and then become root, there is nothing listed if I run ls /sharedfolders/share/

It doesn't matter what shared folders I look at, via SSH they are all empty.

    Thoughts anybody?

  • You should always tag your posts with the OMV version you are using or make this information available within your posts.

If you are beginning with a fresh install of OMV 5 having your shares bind mounted into /sharedfolders/ is deprecated. If you wish to have the prior behavior of having these bind mounts, then it is possible via making a change to the environment settings. See this post but change the word NO to YES:

A backup strategy is worthless unless you have a verified to work by testing restore strategy.
