It gives you an example in the hint. Do you not want to use that? 192.168.1.0/24

  • You could use 192.168.1.0/26 which would be the range of host addresses 192.168.1.1 - 192.168.1.62

  • thanks gderf, but i don't understand what /26 instead /24.

i have created nfs shares on my 3 omv 6 nas. i have a few clients which need theses shares.

as i read, we can only set one ip address on 'client' setup page.

actually, they see nfs shares with 192.168.1.0/24. it works correctly.

i have not set any range or multiples ip, if i did this, omv 6 displays in red, error, and i have to step back.

    i upgraded 5 omv 4 to omv 5, and then omv 5 to omv6.

    to omv5, no issue.

to omv6, multiple issues. and some changes about smb v1 activation, the extra options are not the same as before.

it was for that, i wanted to use nfs shares. but on one of my old client, nfs is not supported.

i need to reinstall one omv system from scratch in omv 6. i can not fix the issues, no time.

    thanks for four help.

my only question here is just about range ip address to set in 'client' zone on nfs share setup page.

  • 192.168.1.0/24 is a network of 256 IP addresses with 254 usable host addresses of 192.168.1.1 - 192.168.1.254

You asked how to restrict access to a range of fifty IPs 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.50 did you not? This is not exactly possible using bitwise CIDR network notation so I suggested 192.168.1.0/26 which covers the range of IPs 192.168.1.1 - 192.168.1.62

Perhaps you do not understand what CIDR notation is?

  • yes, perhaps i don't understand, and it is the case ;) and that's why i'm asking for help here :)

About the ip range, on OMV 6 nfs setting page, it seems that it is not possible to set a range, only an ip, or a host.

As i have some equipments which need to have access to my NAS, i was afraid that the nfs share was only for one ip address.

After set this "192.168.1.0/24", it 's working as well. So it's ok.

    thanks again for your interest

  • its just a text field

    hi,

= a required text field. Thid field can not be empty in OMV6. but in previous version 4.x, maybe in 5.x, i did not need to precise something there.

some user has tried with space char, i, i use the CIDR format like 192.168.1.0/24, following members advises in this topic.

    it
