Can’t connect to OMV UI, docker fail etc

  • Hi,

I have been using OMV for years, and today, my docker radaar failed i had « disk i/o error », i though it was the docker.

Restart the docker and it was now unavailable.

Then i looked at sonaar, same issue…

Then restarted sabnzbd and i had a lot of error on the ui that i never had.

So i wanted to look at OMV UI to see if there was an issue with my system hardrive and now i can’t even access the UI, i log in and it just stay on the log in page.

Weird thing is that some app like sabnzbd and accessing the different disk via ftp,smb works just fine.

Wiuld you have any idea? Any recommandation to fix or debug?

    Thank

  • Check if your root filesystem is full. Are you able to connect to the server via ssh?

  • Hi

    Thanks for answering.

So yes my disk system was full, after cleaning the log (apt get clean), i’m now able to login in OMV UI.

I think i understand where is coming the issue, earlier this week there was an issue with sabnzbd, it donwloaded some file i could t retreived on my final « complete » usual folder, i rebooted and it worked as usual, but it seems the files has been downloaded on the OS SSD instead of the usual other HDD.

I confirmed it by looking at the historical usage of the OS SSD which increased from 20Go to 100Go earlier this week…

I did a search but i can’t find the files on my OS SSD:

  • Yes i did but can’t find the folder

    root@NAS-JC:/var# du -ahxd1 | sort -hr | head -n 10

    12G .

    11G ./lib

    985M ./log

    260K ./spool

    28K ./tmp

    4,0K ./opt

    4,0K ./mail

I would assume it would be in the docker folder but portainer UI is only stating 17Go used…

Could it be the overlay files above? But i read they are not really that size and juste like a cache file.

  • I agree with your asumption of the disk not being moounted at the time but weird i can’t figure out where are the files, here the root search:

  • Unmount the filesystem in /srv from CLI and check again.

Or have a look at this post

  • Sorry, thanks i was doing it in the meanwhile, and the explanation and step by step was well written, i shoult have better look at the last post.

So i find out the 70Go deleted them, now i’m stuck as i can’t unmount the folder created, CLI says it don’t recognize the unmound function

Thanks to for baring with me

  • Please post command and error message as displayed on the console.

If you got help in the forum and want to give something back to the project click here (omv) or here (scroll down) (plugins) and write up your solution for others.

  • Ok, i think i found out, the code in the post mentionned « unmount » which is really « umount », an addition/wrong « n » was in the command.

    Am i correct?

  • Thanks to you both,

I confirm that if there is any issue on missing space on you system disk, and you can’t figure out where the files are, the solution provided on the link mentionned by macom is working perfectly!

(Making this final post if this post is poping for other users while searching for a similar issue)
