  • I am also having a very similar error.
I did a complete new installation of OMV on a Raspi. Works fine. When I connect the USB drive (ext4 formatted, from the previous installation) and try to mount the file system I also receive the message:

Pending configuration changesYou must apply these changes in order for them to take effect. The following modules will be updated:

    • collectd
    • fstab
    • monit
    • quota

Trying to apply the changes does not help, the configuration changes are still pending. The following error is shown:

Failed to execute command 'export PATH=/bin:/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/local/sbin; export LANG=C.UTF-8; export LANGUAGE=; omv-salt deploy run --no-color quota 2>&1' with exit code '1': neugasse:

The errors are often related to "quota", e.g. this one:

quotacheck: Your kernel probably supports ext4 quota feature but you are using external quota files. Please switch your filesystem to use ext4 quota feature as external quota files on ext4 are deprecated.

quotacheck: Scanning /dev/sda1 [/srv/dev-disk-by-uuid-633edacb-311a-48d4-b983-a6be68b2bb98] quotacheck: Something weird happened while scanning. Error 2133571474

Can I get rid of the quota settings on the drive?

  • Can I get rid of the quota settings on the drive?

Try turning the quota service off.

    sudo /etc/init.d/quota stop

(In the following example, substitute the appropriate UUID's for all data drives. Do not do this to the boot drive.)

    sudo quotaoff --user --group /srv/dev-disk-by-uuid-3bdb3de5-218b-4930-bb61-05cda64f8c6b

Delete the files aquota.group and aquota.user from each drive.

  • Delete the files aquota.group and aquota.user from each drive.

These files can not be deleted, not even by root because their immutable bit has been set. That will have to be unset first using chattr

    Read the chattr man page.

  • I just deleted the files on my utility drive, rebooted and checked again to be sure. They're gone.

Perhaps ...........turning off quotas for the drive removes the bit.

    Maybe.

  • Thanks, crashtest, for your advice! I really appreciate it.

I turned of the quota service and I was able to delete the two aquota-files from my USB-drive (there is only one data drive). After restarting I checked again, files are still gone.

Nonetheless I have the same problem:

    - when unmounting the drive, everything is fine

    - after mouting the drive, OMV wants to apply configuration changes to

    • collectd
    • fstab
    • monit
    • quota

When I apply those changes I get the following error (I had to shorten this massively):

After unmounting the drive, only the following configuration changes are needed:

    • collectd
    • monit
    • quota

I can apply these changes with "success", afterwards everything is fine again (no for configuration changes needed - until I mount the USB-drive again).

    Further ideas?

    Thanks,

    Thomas

    You should explain better this:

Why are you mounting AND unmounting the drive?

OMV relies on the drives beeing always available.

    Sorry, my wording was misleading.
Currently I am un-/mounting the drive only to find out whether the problem is related to the drive, i.e. only for trouble-shooting.
I actually wish to have this drive permanently connected, but, when mounting the problems occur.

  • I am having this issue too. I removed two drives recently because of bad SMART status. I didn't unmount the file systems first (just shutdown and unplugged). Perhaps this was the cause? How can I remove the stuck GUI changes?

    Perhaps this was the cause?

Yeah. Surely you have those drives referenced in the system (shared folders and/or services).

How can I remove the stuck GUI changes?

What appears on the GUI in Storage? Do you have drives labeled "Missing"?

  • How can I remove the stuck GUI changes?

You need to remove ALL references to the drives that don't exist anymore.

Check which File Systems and Shared Folders are showing referenced on OMV GUI

Use the reset permissions plugin to remove the references from those missing drives

Try to remove the missing drives.

  • I got an error (500 internal server) when installing that plugin. I'm not entirely sure where to find these references. The drives themselves don't show up, nor any orphaned reference in file systems.
