How Do I Down Docker

  • zsh: command not found: docker
    I need to back-up all of my Docker configuration files and data(including databases). I would like to make sure none of that is being written to while I back it up. I will also be replacing/rebuilding the RAID10 drives that these files reside on so I will not want Docker to be running while I am copying the data back to it.

    Thank you

    If you were using the compose plugin, you just would need to click the Down button for each compose file. You will need to tell use what system you are using to start containers first.

    omv 7.0.5-1 sandworm | 64 bit | 6.8 proxmox kernel

    plugins :: omvextrasorg 7.0 | kvm 7.0.13 | compose 7.1.6 | k8s 7.1.0-3 | cputemp 7.0.1 | mergerfs 7.0.4

  • I'm assuming you mean the down button here. The only composed file I have is portainer (misspelled as ortainer). Portainer is managing all of my Docker containers and is clearly running even though there is a big red dot that says down.
    I have very little experience with Compose, so this is not looking intuitive to me.

    You will have to down them in portainer then. I don't use portainer to help with that.

    Not intuitive? It is modeled after docker compose and its commands since that is literally what it is doing. That is what portainer stacks does as well but it just looks different. There two guides explain more:

  • If you're backing up everything.. just kill the docker service..

    Thanks I believe that should do it.

    I now have composed plug-in installed, but not showing up as a service.

    I doubt it completed or you need to refresh browser cache (ctrl-shift-R).

    what is output of: dpkg -l | grep openme

    Seems like browser cache. There is no Compose tab?

    The new thread was created because, even though there's a relationship between these issues, it's a different issue.

    docker not starting and the compose plugin (which installs docker) not working seem like the same issue and it is difficult to bounce back and forth. Fixing the compose plugin should be the first thing fixed and it would likely fix the other.
