How to install openmediavault-md

I have just upgraded from 6. to 7.4.17-2 (Sandworm)

It ran through smoothly.

There was one note:

Please note that the Software RAID management has been removed from the core system. Please install the openmediavault-md plugin if necessary.

Later, I could not find this plugin under OMV7, so I searched for it:

apt search openmediavault

and installed it:

apt install openmediavault-md

and

reboot

However, the plugin "Software RAID" did not appear in the menu under "System>" as it did in OMV6

What did I miss?

Now, I upgraded a second machine and got the same not:

So, I search for it aswell:

apt search openmediavault

but it wasn't in the list.

So I tried to run the fix6to7upgrade script:

wget -O - https://github.com/OpenMediaVault-Plugin-Developers/installScript/raw/master/fix6to7upgrade | sudo bash

but I got an error:

https://github.com/OpenMediaVault-Plugin-Developers/installScript/raw/master/fix6to7upgrade
Resolving github.com (github.com)... failed: Temporary failure in name resolution.
wget: unable to resolve host address ‘github.com’

What's wrong here?

I checked with:

cat /etc/network/interfaces

and got:

I guess it is DHCP already

Got it.

For any reason, the domain name of my router was missing.

I add it under "Network>General>domain name"

I did not modify it.

first I figured out, the machine has no internet connection.

There was no reply to:

ping -c 4 github.com

so, I checked the network setting with:

less /etc/resolv.conf

and got

nameserver 127.xx.xx.xx
options edns0 trust-ad
search .

Behind "search" should be my router, like my.router

I added the domain name "my.router" with the OMV webinterface under "Network>General>domain name"

finally I checked less /etc/resolv.conf again and got:

nameserver 127.xx.xx.xx
options edns0 trust-ad
search my.router

ping works now and I could run the script:

wget -O - https://github.com/OpenMediaVault-Plugin-Developers/installScript/raw/master/fix6to7upgrade | sudo bash

so, it is done!
