OMV on Banana Pi - BanaNAS

  • It means the repo has not been updated. Usually it should fix itself after a day or two.

  • Hi all,

I found this site very late while I was searching for a usage for my old 2,5" drives.
Thanks a lot at cyryllo and all the others, for spending lot of time. Big Respect.

Is it possible, to create a overview or a list of hardware for both projects?

    1. Banana pi
    2. Banana pro

For a noob like me, it was a hard time to read all of the comments and when I will try to do the same, it should´n fail because of a wrong hardware.
The perfect post would be a link where a noob can buy it.

Thank you all and I´m very excited to start this project.

    regards
    afarud

  • On project site have supported boards simplenas.com On this time support: BananaPi/PRO, odroid C1, Raspberry Pi 2 and Cubieboard2.

  • Hi,

    Nice project!

I've found this forum/website because I was looking to build a small NAS with some basic server like media and torrent functionality. I like your project so I want to give it a go. I've already ordered the banana pi m3 board, just awaiting for the delivery now (China ~30 days... sigh). Will the M3 board will get support on your website project (http://simplenas.com/) ? I think it shouldn't be a problem to run OpenMediaVault on that board if I'm right.

    Regards,
    Pawel

    PS. Dobra robota!

  • On this time we no support for m3. We don't have this board.

"omv-initsystem"...

    ----
Which version should I download for Banana Pi M1? This https://drive.google.com/file/…CQklYLUk/view?usp=sharing or this one: https://drive.google.com/file/…2Vm81dlU/view?usp=sharing ?
I'm playing with Banana for few days, I installed second of them but it was very bugged - plugins didn't work and webui panel crashed after few minutes. After that every click in panel shows only blank white page and only refresh solves problem... But that is no good solution :-(.
Yesterday I installed clean Raspbian from official banana pi website, but I cna't install OVM on it. In terminal I got error: "bash: command not found" after send "omv-initsystem" command.
Before that I got clean Raspbian version from LeMaker, but situation was the same. Every manual of OVM installation on Raspbian look just the same...

    What can I do?

  • I've installed the BanaNAS on my banana pi m1 and I've up and running since December. I'm using a 3TB wd red hdd as storage and everything works good.
My hardware accommodation is not the best at the moment and I still have board, hdd, cables, power supplies etc. laying on a plastic box (the type used to sell the fruits and vegetables) on the floor!

So I'm planning to build a decent box to host everything, in 19" rack format so that I can finally put this one on my home network/hardware rack.

However I'd like to have an external button to control power on/shutdown of my banana board and a lcd display or, better, an oled display showing some information on the NAS status. The oled solution will be better to show graphical content as, for example, the network load (up/down) or the disk load or something like that. I have basic knowledge in electronics and good in programming but I never put my hands on these sbc boards so this is my first time and thank to your hard work I haven't do much effort by my side!
The power button is the simplest part so I have no doubts on that. On the display side instead I have no clue on how to do what I'd like to do! I've just find some cheap display, 0,96" size with i2c interface but really I have no idea on how to send information to it from OMV or the underlying OS.

    Any idea/advice on that?

    There's something like this:
    http://lowpowerlab.com/atxraspi/
Should also work for the banana.

I don't know how you add a screen to the Banana, but there seems to be different options for Ras out there. Even ones that uses Nokia 3310 LCD Displays. Hope this helps you a bit.

  • I just tried to your 2.2.1 Image for my Banana Pi M1.

But CUPS Plugin isnt working. I always get "internal server error" trying to access any of the tabs on the CUPS webpage.
It seems to be a permission problem...

On OMV3 Cups is just wroking fine, but many other things are broken.

  • I cant edit so here follows:
