Is there stil the fault in Debian with Openmediavault software, that causes that your RAID is lost after reboot?
Running 4.1.23-1 (Arrakis)
So we have to run the task after reboot
mdadm –assemble --scan
?

This has never been the fault of OMV and I really don't blame Debian either. I have used raid for years and never had an array not assemble on boot. I think this happens when the arrays are built from/on equipment that not up to the task and/or used in a way never intended for raid.
thx
I read this on the Dutch manual

After (re) boot : mdadm –assemble --scan
Or can it be that this is in combination with a Raspberry Pi?
Note what he said . "A way raid never intended".. if they are running raid on a raspberry pi, I'm assuming it is USB Raid... Which is a terrible idea by any stretch of the imagination
Indeed a Pi has no (E)sata only USB2/3
mdadm raid should never be run on usb drives either. There is nothing redundant or available about an RPi. Why would you need your drives to be redundant? raid isn't a backup.
This still keeps coming up, I cannot understand why you would to use a Pi with USB drives for a raid, there are just too many 'you tube gurus' who think this is a good idea
Want to use the PineNas with PineCase as Internal file and mediaserver for my personal files and photos.
Until now I use a Sinology 713+ for this, but runs 24/7 at 40-55 Watts
One drive can crash which leads to loss of files and photos, therefore a second drive inside the NAS as 1 on 1 copy RAID
This NAS also Rsync’s each night to another NAS on a fysical other location , so fire or powerfailure can’t touch the files
Others tell me to use Nextcloud in combination with OMV, good choice as photoviewer?
Raid 1 is just foolish except in a very limited set of circumstances(USB not withstanding).
Format the drives independently, Set up an automatic rsync job that runs 1, 2, 10, 20x a day.. however often you want. I've been doing this for years w/o issue.
Problem solved, no raid.
Or use rsnapshot instead of rsync. Then you have snapshots of the data at certain times. So you can restore previous versions of your files.

There are some threads about photo viewer in the forums.
Best Picture-Server for docker?
Solution for picture browsing on the server?
