Maybe someone can convince votdev to make ZFS default in OMV (instead of BTRFS)

It will never happen unless zfs is relicensed (not going to happen).
I installed the KVM plug in yesterday and although it's bare-bones it impressed me with the functionality.
That is the goal. Even though I used vCenter all day long, I wanted simple.

Just wondering if something could be integrated to allow pools made externally show up in OMV then we could use this cockpit zfs manager as a graphical interface in Cockpit.
And shame about the licensing issues, i understand the point of view but it's a big loss given how powerful ZFS is.
Ubuntu does it. But I guess the company behind it gives you the power to do it.

That was the idea with releasing the backend. I haven't figured out what is missing.
The 6.x zfs plugin (really just backend) has been removed. There are changes that need to be made to the backend that I hadn't seen and the zfs backend is broken.

ryecoaaron: ZFS plugin (backend) works as expected on openmediavault 6.0.5-1.
Thanks for your hard work and continuous support!

I read you post and test it again.
first I update OMV to 6.0.5-1 and install ZFS-plugin "Opemmediavault-zfs 6.0.1"
then import my previously exported ZFS pool from shell:
Linux RNAS 5.13.19-1-pve #1 SMP PVE 5.13.19-3 (Tue, 23 Nov 2021 13:31:19 +0100) x86_64

As you can see the pool is imported and ready to use from Shell, BUT
is not detected by OMV webGUI, so it can works as expected ( I expected that the imported pool can be show or mounted in storage -> filesystem so I can share some folders, see free space, etc...

zpool import does nothing for the plugin. Did you run the omv-rpc call I posted about? https://github.com/OpenMediaVa…aster/debian/postinst#L57

For me it works exactly as you describe - ZFS pool / datasets show up in OMV6 filesystems and can be shared as usual. I did nothing different than you did.

That line I linked to was included in the install of 6.0.1. BUT if you import a pool after you install the plugin, you need to run that line again. I will try to make a simple web interface with a button to run the line. Either way, nothing is going to run that command on a regular basis.
Hello
I tried to make l2arc persistent across reboots but the zgs version does not seem to accept the relevant option.
I tried:
zfs set l2arc_rebuild_enabled=1
zfs set l2arc_headroom=0
Any idea.
The zfs version is 2.0.7 >2.0 so it should be supported
