Hi,
I'm trying to make USB backup work on OMV6. However, when creating a new item, the "select a device" showed nothing. I tried to have the external USB drive mounted or unmounted but the issue persist. Please advice on how to solve this. Thanks!

Try if clearing the browser cache solves it.

Unfortunately it didn't work. Also tried multiple machines with both Chrome and Firefox, and none can show any external device.
Does linux see the disk?
lsusb
lsblk -f
fdisk -l
Does linux see the disk?
Yes. I can mount the disk, can create shared folders on this disk, and can setup rsnapshot to auto backup to this shared folder. I'm just afraid it may shorten the life span of the disk as rsnapshot is configured to do this daily.
lsusb
lsblk -f
fdisk -l
Command outputs:
$ lsusb | grep Seagate

You are not trying to use a mounted disk? I think the plugin expects a disk which it can mount and unmout when needed.

As I said in the original post, I tried to have the disk both mounted and unmounted but in both cases the "select device" in USB backup showed nothing.
Do you have a different disk / usb stick to test?
Your disk does not appear because it has two partitions which is not supported.

Ah, interesting! Is there a reason why it's not supported? Like, why not let user choose a partition to use?
I don't know it anymore, but if it is in the code, there was a strong reason to add it. If you want to know more, maybe the GitHub history will give you an answer.
Thanks votdev. Found https://github.com/openmediavault/openmediavault/issues/1161 if anyone's interested.
Will probably consider reformatting if that's all it takes.
